On February 18, 2020, the CBSG Consortium announced that Taiwan-based Asia Pacific Telecom Co., Ltd. (“APTG”) and a US-based carrier jointly completed Proof-of-Business (POB) mobile payment transactions enabled by the Cross-Carrier Payment System (CCPS) platform, a cross-carrier blockchain payment network developed by TBCASoft. In the December 2019 POB, mobile subscribers from the US carrier visiting Taiwan used their mobile payment app to complete purchases at a participating merchant while on APTG’s payment network called Gt Pay, which is connected to the CCPS network. CCPS enables the transactions to be conveniently billed and paid through direct carrier billing in the purchaser’s home-currency.

On October 22, 2019, TBCASoft, IBM and SoftBank Corp. announced that they are entering into a strategic collaboration to support the transformation of the telecommunications industry that is intended to use cross-carrier blockchain technology designed to enable new synergies throughout the industry, provide new services to Carriers and their subscribers, and foster innovative business models.

On September 10-11, 2019, the CBSG Consortium hosted its first Wallet Roaming Summit in Bali, Indonesia. Thanks to Telin for co-hosting the event. Leading telecom carriers and payment solution providers from the CBSG Consortium participated in a CBSG workshop, a two day executive working session, to conclude the commercial use-cases for mobile transactions using TBCASoft’s Cross-Carrier Payment System (CCPS) Platform.

On February 27, 2019, TBCASoft, Inc. (“TBCASoft”), a U.S.-based innovator of cross-carrier blockchain platform technology, announced that it will collaborate with India-based Tech Mahindra Ltd. (“TechM”) to promote TBCASoft’s Cross-Carrier Blockchain Platform for telecom carriers.

On February 25, 2019, SoftBank Corp. (“SoftBank”) and TBCASoft, Inc. (“TBCASoft”) announced the launch of a blockchain-based “Identification & Authentication” Working Group under the Carrier Blockchain Study Group (CBSG), the global blockchain consortium of telecom carriers. TBCASoft created a new foundation application framework called Cross-Carrier Identification System (CCIS) that will focus on enabling identification and authentication services. SoftBank and TBCASoft are leading this Working Group under the CBSG Consortium and will collaborate with other Consortium members.

On February 22, 2019, the Carrier Blockchain Study Group (“CBSG”) announced that Taiwan-based Asia Pacific Telecom Co., Ltd. (“APTG”), U.A.E.-based du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (“EITC”) and South Africa-based MTN Group (“MTN”) joined CBSG. Also, CBSG carrier members Far EasTone Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (“Far EasTone”) and Japan-based SoftBank Corp. (“SoftBank”) completed mobile wallet transactions on the payment network of the other carrier. Finally, TBCASoft announced that they closed Series A funding.

On September 13, 2018, South Korea-based LG Uplus Corp. (“LG Uplus”) and Taiwan-based Far EasTone Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (“Far EasTone”) announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate in a trial based on a cross-carrier blockchain platform called CCPS (Cross-Carrier Payment System) to enable subscribers from one carrier to be able to complete purchase transactions on the payment network(s) of another carrier; part of the Carrier Blockchain Study Group (“CBSG”), the global blockchain consortium of telecom carriers. The blockchain platform is U.S.-based TBCASoft, Inc.’s (“TBCASoft”) cutting-edge blockchain technology. Japan-based SoftBank Corp. (“SoftBank”) will also participate in this trial.

On July 6, 2018, the Carrier Blockchain Study Group (“CBSG”), the global blockchain consortium of telecom carriers, announced that ASEAN and South Asian operator Axiata Group Berhad (“Axiata”), Philippine-based PLDT, Inc. (“PLDT”), Indonesia-based PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (“Telin”), Turkey-based leading digital operator Turkcell (“Turkcell”), Vietnam-based Viettel Telecom Corporation (“Viettel”), and Kuwait-headquartered Zain Group (“Zain”) agreed to jointly explore how to collaborate on building a next-generation global cross-carrier blockchain platform and ecosystem.

On February 23, 2018, the Carrier Blockchain Study Group (“CBSG”), the global blockchain consortium of telecom carriers, announced that South Korea- based LG Uplus Corp. (“LG Uplus”), UAE-based Etisalat Group (“Etisalat”), South Korea-based KT Corporation (“KT”), Spain-based Telefónica, S.A. (“Telefónica”), and Philippine-based PLDT Inc. (“PLDT”) agreed to jointly explore how to collaborate on building a next-generation global cross-carrier blockchain platform and ecosystem.

On September 7, 2017, Japan-based SoftBank Corp. (“SoftBank”), U.S.-based Sprint Corporation (“Sprint”), Taiwan-based Far EasTone Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (“Far EasTone”) and U.S.-based TBCASoft, Inc. (“TBCASoft”) announced the launch of a new blockchain consortium, the Carrier Blockchain Study Group (“CBSG”). CBSG will soon be inviting global telecom carriers to participate and soon define the requirements of the cross-carrier blockchain platform. The consortium will also function as a working group for telecom carrier members to resolve issues related to technology, business and the regulations of various jurisdictions.
